He enrolled at Jaffna Central in 1943, where his remarkable interest, performance, and achievements in sports garnered praise from his peers and teachers alike. Excelling in cricket, football, and athletics, he earned national and international recognition, representing Sri Lanka in prestigious events such as the Olympics, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games.
